nature, modern look and they are easy to install. You will find that in almost any office or household
today, Flash doors are the prefered choice of doors.
The requirements
Making a flash door is simple as long as you make available all these materials before you start.
- Door skin
- Wood glue
- Timber peckings
- 3 inch brush
- Pressing machine (home-made or industrial)
might require a dust coat to avoid smearing glue to your clothes while working.
Making flash doors (the process)
The first thing is to make a decision on the number of doors you want to make so as to determine the number of door skins you need to set aside. for example, if you want to make ten doors then you will require twenty pieces of door skins because two door skins make one door.
Secondly, you will prepare timber peckings for each door. Timber peckings are simply 3by2 or 2by2 timber cut into specific required size considering the thickness of the door.
peckings required for one door should be around 70 feet total.
The next step is to set the press machine. the place the first door skin facing down with the rare side facing up. arrange the pekings on the rare side while applying wood glue generously on them. ensure that all the peckings are arranged correctly.
place the second door skin on top of the set so that you have a complete door. Then repeat the process so that you have all the doors required set on top of each other on the press.
Be careful not to spill any glue between each individual door on the press. clean any spillage with a dry piece of cloth before setting up the next door on top.
Upon completing the setup, press the doors with just enough pressure. be careful not to break the doors during this process. leave them for about two days to dry.
After the glue is completely dried remove the doors from the press then cut the doors to required sizes.
then finally you fit the biddings all around the door.
